We have had it evaluated and appears to be a vintage (early 1900's?) German or France made - made violin. Collectible and Highly decorated with mother of pearl, abalone, ebony inlay and purfling and carved back. It's is uniquely ornate - see Photos! It includes bridge, bow and case (not original case). Spruce Top with even grain and a repaired crack; Flamed Maple Back; Neck and Ribs, Ebony Fittings and Fingerboard. The top has what appears to be repair. - see photos. Obviously needs strings and some set up! -Design & Inlays:Vintage ornate violins featuring abalone and mother-of-pearl inlays typically originate from late 19th- to early 20th-century workshops in Germany or France (such as Mirecourt or Paris). These instruments frequently feature floral patterns, stars, vine motifs, or rope purfling crafted from iridescent abalone and mother-of-pearl embedded into the flamed maple back or fingerboard. This one is unusual in it's inlay design and carving. -Historical Context: Many were trade instruments, parlor violins, or "Gypsy-style" copies modeled loosely after Stradivarius or Amati patterns.
