1961 Martin D-28 | BRAZILIAN ROSEWOOD | DEMO VIDEO | TRADE FRIENDLY

IMPORTANT NOTE: Although unusually large, factory order records for this specific guitar indicate that the oversized pickguard is original. Power. Authority. Craftsmanship. Americana. Since its 1931 debut in Nazareth, PA., the Martin D-28 has always been America's number one dreadnought. Today is your chance to own a piece of that timeline. Up for grabs is a beautiful 1961 Martin D-28. This is a great example of pre ‘64 Old Factory workmanship and build quality that isn’t five figures or more. It is in need of no repairs and will be playable upon arrival in your home! TONE Like many of its early sixties mates, this D-28 is balanced without compromising projection. The Brazilian Rosewood back and sides help produce glassy, defined notes that will not degrade to aural mush when pushed. Its tone is versatile in genre applicability, capable of being a fine instrument for bluegrass, country, jazz, pop and a myriad of other musical styles. PLAYABILITY Playability is exceptional—among the best of the dozen or so vintage Martin guitars I have owned. Action is medium low with plenty of saddle left and I can easily play up and down the neck. CONDITION Excellent structural condition. Of note: - Factory original finish with some overspray on the top. Aside from obvious areas of play wear, the guitar fluoresces uniformly under UV light. Some finish distortion on lower rim and buckle rash on back. - Period correct replacement bridge. - Bridge plate is original. three pin holes have been replugged for durability. It is otherwise in excellent condition. - Full refret, replacement nut and saddle, ensuring excellent playability. - One top crack extending from just below the bridge and two hairline cracks. All repaired. SPECS - 1 11/16” nut width - Brazilian rosewood back and sides - Ebony fingerboard and bridge - Modern hardshell case
